Matthew 6:34: So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

We don't know what tomorrow will bring, in our personal lives or in the world in general. Middle age seems like it has its own worries about the future. When will my parents need more care? What will my kids do after they graduate? When will we retire and where will we live? Will we continue to be in good health? As a planner I like to have my days mapped out and it is difficult to live with the uncertainty of life. I can become anxious about what tomorrow will bring, what next year will look like or where we'll be in five years. Rather than spiral in my anxiety, however, I need to trust that God has a plan and a roadmap all figured out. This Lent I want to focus on saying a prayer when I feel anxious about the future and give the unknown over to God, trusting that his master plan is in play. This will let me focus on today and all of the blessings it has to offer.

Prayer: Dear God, let me trust that you are in control of all of my tomorrows and will be by my side giving me grace to accept all that comes.
