1 John 4:11-12, 16
“Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God: if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.”
Devotion
I believe that God is love. Loving others is sharing God with others.
There are many ways we show love/God to others. Volunteering with our Food Pantry, Summer Lunch, Glory Hall, Family Promise, and all the other things we do through church are great. But there are myriad small things we also do that we probably don’t even think about as being an act of love or an act of God. When we: listen to someone who just needs to be heard, pick up litter, random acts of kindness, spend quality time with anyone, sharing a smile with someone who needs it…
We can love others because we know that we are loved. Pass it on. And they’ll know we are Christians by our love.
Prayer
Holy God, help us to love one another as you love us. Let us to recognize these acts of love as God sightings-God at work in our lives. Amen.
