However we discuss god must be firmly grounded in the reality of impending doom.
Impending - about to happen, forthcoming
Doom - death, destruction, or some other terrible fate. Middle English doome, from Old English dom "a law, statute, decree; administration of justice, judgment; justice, equity, righteousness,”
These words carry a sense of dread to them, but it is worth noting that doom historically was more than simply death. Doom was about a setting right of the world and since we are such a shit show, people could only imagine annihilation and not transformation. Doom went from a setting right of the world to a destruction of it.
My intention is to explore the nature of the trinity, prayer, liturgy, faith, stewardship, and communion born out of the fear and the hope of impending doom.
