Lowering the Paralytic
Mark 2:3-5
3 Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. 4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

o    What stands out to you about the reading?

•    Some thoughts on today's scripture:
o    Jesus saw the faith of the friends of the man who was paralyzed. Think of all the good causes that gather people and pray for the faith, hope and courage of all who support others in their need.
o    The dismantled roof, the man's physical condition were not what was important to Jesus.  He looked to the heart and beyond the external conditions into the relationship with God.
o    Early Christians may have used this story to reinforce their claims of Jesus' ability to forgive sins.
