Hebrews 12:12 So put your hands to work. Strengthen your legs for the journey.

There’s a parking garage.

Well, it is a pretty popular place.

A parking garage at Mt. Rushmore, huh.

I don’t remember when I first visited or how many times I have been there. This trip I just remember thinking this is all too much. Besides the garage, there was a new walkway with flags, multiple shops with ice cream, food and souvenirs. Then the music started. At first I thought it was somebody rude, but then realized it was part of the ‘experience’.

There was a path that the kids wanted to explore and we walked down and into the woods. The music faded and you could glimpse the mountain through the trees. Further along was the site of the original studio. After that there was a studio with a scale model of the mountain. It was fascinating looking at the planning involved. The tools that were used and all the work that was done. And it felt like we were miles away from the hype. Some journeys are taken by traveling far away, covering many miles. This was a journey that happened in one spot and took years. Great care was needed for every step. Multiple strong hands and legs were needed.

Dear Lord, Help us plan and prepare for our journey. Help us appreciate the plans made by others. Remind us our plan may not be the only way to successfully complete the journey. Surround us with wisdom from our experiences and open our hearts to hear and learn from the experiences of others. Guide us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
