It’s 1980, Bob and I had just graduated from college, and moved to Bob’s hometown, Juneau. We didn’t have a lot of money with us just starting new jobs. We cut our tree, and needed a tree topper. I looked all over town but couldn’t find just the right one. So I headed to the only sewing shop in town and bought a small piece of lacey type fabric for the body of the star, some lace for the edges, and to give it some bling, gold cord, and sewed up a star. Over the years, I would look for a new star in places we vacationed but nothing seemed quite right. Finally when the girls were older, I found a beautiful star on the internet. I showed the family before I bought it. Silence. Finally, “Why are you buying that, Mom?” I replied, “To replace the homemade star.” The girls and Bob all chimed in, “We love that star!” Really? My heart was filled with love. Thank you, God, for my beautiful caring family.
Kristin, Merry Christmas.
