1 Corinthians 16:13
Keep alert, stand firm in your faith, be courageous, be strong.
It has been two years since the abduction of Leah Sharibu, and a hundred of her classmates in a town in Northern Nigeria. All the abducted girls were released two mnths later with the exception of Leah. She was not released because she refused to denounce her faith in Jesus Christ. One can only imagine the horror of being surrounded by people who only wish to destroy and kill. We currently do not know much about her situation becasue not much effort has been made to rescue the young woman. Nonetheless, Leah is a reminder to us Christians that persecution may come, and we may have to make difficult decisions as a result of it. However, the more persecution we face the stronger and deeper we grow in our Christian faith and that faith has led so many souls to Christ. Whether we live or die we are for Christ.
As Christians, we are to be like foot soldiers who are always ready for the battle ahead of them. We are called to serve as equipped workers in the vineyard who exercise their faith through different works. The world we live in today is a complex world and so many things are happening that are scary but we are encouraged to stand firm and alert. Wherever we go, whatever we see, our faith should not be compromised because we know who has called us. We are not to fear no matter how difficult it may be the Lord is our stronghold.
Prayer: Let us continue to keep our faith and pray for those in persecution anywhere in the world, and that nothing can separate us from the Love of God!
