John 16:33

I have said this to you, so that in me you may have peace. In the world you face persecution. But take courage; I have conquered the world!

There have been several times in my personal life when I have doubted, and I would guess we all have at times in our lives, but we mature, learn and grow. I can’t help but remember being so worried over things like a new job and where my next meal was going to come from, not to mention friendships and financial problems that looked as if there was just no way to overcome them.

Even when I wasn’t looking to my Lord in prayer, I would hear family and friends, and even strangers say they would pray for me. I now know my mother prayed for me constantly. Reading the words “do not be afraid” at the time did not calm my anxieties at all, yet the bad times got a little better anyway and fear would disappear.

Merciful God, we thank you for the many gifts you shower upon us each day, and we pray for those less fortunate than we are. The psalmist writes "Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty", so we thank you once, again for all your promises and for giving us a family of brothers and sisters and believers in Christ Jesus. Lord,  continue to give us courage and wisdom to do your will each and everyday, and remind us to follow after you, as we remember the light of Christ. In Jesus name AMEN.
