“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”

Making wise decisions has proven challenging at times throughout my life. As I’ve continued to grow, I find that by taking time to pause, I can respond effectively vs reacting hastily and that my decisions tend to be wiser. It’s in the pause that I know there’s something greater than I am. The pause can be uncomfortable, leaving me to fidget or wriggle, but ultimately, I make a connection to my higher functioning brain, which seems to be a direct conduit to that infinite Love.

The Love sometimes takes the form of curious trails, paths in the woods, ruts along summits, and sometimes, flooded, rocky, or swampy marshes—all of these encourage me to remain mindful of my footing and pause when necessary.

I’m slowly learning to be a more resilient and “gritty” lady, someone more willing to be curious, instead of judgmental and discouraged. Isn’t that what “truly living” is all about? Life is THE present and A present, a gift of Grace and Love from God.
